Bermuda is one of the wealthier fund domiciles with a GDP per capita of approximately $80,000. Its economy is heavily reliant upon financial services and tourism. Bermuda is the world’s third biggest reinsurance centre – after London and New York. Assets of Bermuda funds declined from $208 bn at the mid year of 2011 to $184 bn at the same point in 2012. From once being the leading and arguably first offshore fund jurisdiction in the western hemisphere it has been overtaken by the Caribbean, especially by Cayman. But Bermuda still has good infrastructure and people with considerable expertise. However it is no longer in the front line of the world’s fund domiciles, as it once was. Population (approx): 65,000
