Appleby appoints five new partners
Posted: 10 March 2010
Appleby has announced that it has appointed five new partners in the funds and investment services, and banking and asset finance practices. The new partners are set to work both in the corporate and commercial practice group.
Richard Addlestone and Julian Black will join the Cayman Islands office, the former having joined the Funds and Investment Services team and the latter has joined the Banking and Asset Finance team. Matthew Stocker joins the Hong Kong office in April as a member of the Banking and Asset Finance team; Matthew Feargrieve joins the Zurich office in May in the Funds and Investment Services team with a focus on the Cayman funds and private equity; and James Gaudin joins the Jersey office in August where he will advise on corporate and commercial issues, emphasising on finance, capital markets, and funds.
Appleby partner Gray Smith, who joined the firm back in April 2009, has moved back to the London office. He will be leading the Funds and Investment Services team in London.
"The strategic hire of these leading practitioners represents a significant addition to the firm's strong Corporate and Commercial practice group, further enhancing our offering in Cayman and Jersey," said Peter Bubenzer, Group Managing Partner at Appleby. "One of our key strategic goals for 2010 is to continue our substantial investment in the right partners to underscore our market leading position and our ability to offer clients a range of jurisdictions and services unequalled by any other offshore firm."
The five new appointments will bring the number of partners to 82, and this is in addition to the firm's 211 lawyers. Appleby is the world's largest offshore law firm.
