Bermuda investment firm under investigation
Posted: 03 July 2009
The authorities in Bermuda are investigating the Emerald Financial Group, an offshore investment company that provides personalised offshore wealth management strategies.
An unnamed 45-year-old woman was arrested by officers from the islands' Financial Crime Unit in relation to the ongoing investigation.
Bermuda Police said the investigation was likely to generate "considerable interest" among Emerald's clients and referred asset-related questions to a local office of the KPMG accounting company. A police spokesman declined to provide further details.
The company was founded in 1992 and provides personalised investment advice for "financially established individuals".
