Irish regulator now accepting AIFMD applications

29 May 2013

The regulator of the funds industry in Ireland, the Central Bank of Ireland announced that it is now accepting applications under the Alternative Investment Fund Managers Directive (from May 15).

The Central Bank also published the relevant Application Forms, as well as its AIF Rulebook, making it the first regulator in Europe to provide such clarity on its approach to applications under AIFMD, report Irish Mason Hayes and Curran.

Sachs calls Cayman a ‘house of cards’

In a letter to the Financial Times one of the world’s best known economists, Jeffrey Sachs, has laid into Cayman, suggesting that ‘it is playing with fire’. Sachs, who is currently at Colombia University, was one of the youngest ever professors of economics at Harvard.
